This musical is based on the well-known story of Heidi by Johanna Spyri.

Heidi, a cheerful, lively little orphan girl is sent to live with her hermit-like grandfather high in the Alpine pastures. Her innocence, sensitivity and immense love of nature prove to have remarkable transforming powers over everyone around her.

The play was 'very well received' when it was first produced in 1990 under the title The Girl on the Mountain. It has now been developed with more characters, dialogue and songs into a full-length musical version of the original story.

In its present form, as Heidi, it has had an extended season at Chemainus Theatre, Vancouver Island, BC, from 15 November 2002 - 4 January 2003.
